GBC Negligent In Duty RE: Changed Books

Locan Ananda Dasa
The BBT was certainly set up as a separate legal entity so that in the event that ISKCON would go into liquidation, book publishing would go on. However, the Directions of Management of ISKCON states that BBT trustees would also be GBC members, so it is the GBC that is the ultimate managerial authority of the entire Hare Krishna movement including the publishing of Back to Godhead magazine as well as Srila Prabhupada's books.

It is possible, though hardly conceivable, that the BBT trustees could decide to stop printing changed books. Although Srila Prabhupada never gave trustee powers to someone from his editorial staff, HH Jayadvaita Swami somehow became a BBT trustee and it is by his insistance that the BBT continues to print the changed books. It is the GBC, though, that is responsible for allowing the controversy to go on for thirty years. First of all, according to a statement made by former GBC member Balavanta prabhu, the presentation made to the GBC by Jayadvaita Swami in the early 1980's, what was being sought was approval of some necessary changes. As soon as the GBC found out to what extent the Bhagavad-gita had been changed, they should have halted all printing of the revised edition. Instead, by dereliction of duty, they have allowed unnecessary revisions to be made to Srila Prabhupada's sacred texts over a thirty year period.

All members of the GBC are guilty of negligence of their fiduciary duty to protect Srila Prabhupada's legacy. In light of the above, I would suggest that the articles and comments posted on this Facebook page, Arsa-Prayoga, should be emailed to all of the BBT trustees individually as well as to all current members of the GBC. When these incompetent leaders come face-to-face with Srila Prabhupada, they will have a lot of explaining to do.
